I should win the A&E contest about a person who made great impact on Canadian society in the 2012. I chose Rosie Maclennan as a person who made a massive impact on Canadian society. The judges should choose my essay, because Rosie Maclennan won gold medal in trampoline even in the London Olympics 2012. In addition, Rosie became role models of many other Canadian gymnasts and proved hard work and effort can make anything or everything perfect.
It was a warm springtime, Tally was seating under the tree, full of concerns. The moment she got up, she saw Shay walking towards her. Shay asked “ Hi there, how are you doing?”
Tally replied, “I’m fine, thanks.” After about 5 seconds of silence, Shay opened her mouth. “You aren’t a pretty yet?” Shay said. And Tally talked back, “ I’m not 16 yet” Tally and Shay both gave each other a cold glance. And Shay talked again, “I wonder how it would feel to live ugly, I can’t imagine.” “It is better than you expect it to be” Tally said suppressing her anger, “ Someday, you were ugly.” Shay walked away and gave Tally a sharp glance, as if she was watching a poor dog. I don’t think the book ‘War Brother’ was worth-telling. The story was about a boy named Jacob, who was born in a rich family being captured by Kony. The story had pretty much a predictable ending and didn’t grab my attention where it was suppose to. Furthermore, I already knew about Kony and its story, which made the story a bit boring for me. This book didn’t really have climax where big problem is supposed to happen and make the readers want to read more. Otherwise, the story was dramatic and well written.
For my topic selection, I was pleased, because I chose a topic that I really care and interested in. Because I was very interested in my topic, it was no trouble to write my speech. And I also made mind- map and wrote rough draft, which made it even easier to write. One of my biggest successes was choosing the topic. My topic was about the future and the environment, which everyone should care about. I challenge was that my voice wasn’t loud enough and I consider I talked a bit fast. If I could give a piece of advice to myself for next year, I would say that I have to be more confident and be relaxed in front of the audience.

<Saving the water, saving the animals> Kenya’s lands are being parched. The chance of rain has decreased by global warming. Eventually, the harms that people made to the water source are coming back to us, not only humans but also animals. I read an article about animals dying in Kenya, because of the drought. In Kenya, animals, crops and even people are dying because of water scarcity. Elephants are spending weeks and months to find something to eat, but ponds are parched and meadows are wilted. Water scarcity is being a global issue these days. Water scarcity isn’t a huge problem in many countries, but we have to prevent it and help other countries that desperately want water. Just by changing our life habits we can save water and others; such as people, animals and crops. First of all, we can put a brick or a bottle full of sand in the back of our toilets to save water. Secondly, we have to check if our faucets are fully turned of and not dripping. Third, taking shorter shower can save us about 18~25 liters of water. Lastly, when using the washing machine, we can join all the washings and laundry them at once. Also, it helps if we use less synthetic detergent. I hope everyone in the world are cautious about wasting water and know how precious the water is. Have you ever had a silly or goofy experience? I had a goofy experience with my friend we were young.
It was a scorching summer, my friend called Yae -sol and I were playing in front of our house in Seoul, Korea. At that moment, we were both 6 years old, and was pretty young and inconsiderate. There was a colorful playground, where other kids were running, screaming and playing. Yae-sol and I climbed up the stairs, through the ramp and reached the top of playground. There was shade from the ginkgo trees, which was an ideal place to be in such a hot summer. We played tag, went on the see saw, pushed each other on the swing and went on the monkey bars. My friend, Yae-sol, seating on the side, bored, was licking her Popsicle.Suddenly, she popped out of her seat as if there was something interesting. What she found was a small gap on the plastic wall of the playground. Yae-sol, full of curiosity, stuck her arm in the plastic walls of the playground. She was disappointed that she couldn’t find anything in there. The moment she was trying to pull out her arms out of the gap, she realized that her arm was stuck in the plastic wall. Yae-sol called me for help and I tried to pull her out, but it was useless. I heard her crying in pain and I stood there not knowing what to do to solve this problem. The solution I came up was calling Yae-sol’s mom. In about 2 minutes, Yae-sol’s mom ran out, breathing heavily. When she saw her daughter caught in the gap, crying, she grasped her back and pulled her hard. Again, it was useless. Yae-sol’s mom called 911 and the rescue team came to rescue Yae-sol. I was blankly standing beside her full of puzzlement. The man from 911 told be to back up and opened the black box. I was shocked what I saw; there was a huge power saw. The rescue worker started to cut off the playground wall and finally her arms were free.
