Conclusion
Our lab was very successful and got better results than we predicted in the hypothesis. In our hypothesis, we stated that 90% of the oil would be contained and absorbed by the materials, but the lab proved 95% of the oil could be contained and absorbed by the following materials: spoon, cotton balls, dish soap, vinegar and baking soda. This experiment proved each materials had different abilities and functions to contain and absorb oil from water. The cotton balls worked the best to both contain and absorb oil, while the vinegar and baking soda could contain 0%, absorb 0% of the oil which was the least effective for the oil spill clean up. The dish soap was very effected for containing oil, it could contain 45% of the oil but couldn’t absorb any. If I had to repeat this experiment, I would use flat object to contain the oil instead of vinegar and baking soda to improve the experiment
